Metta M. Whitcomb
Metta May Whitcomb, 89, a lifelong resident of Marion, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in a Marion nursing home. She was born the daughter of Calvin H. and Mary Ellen Bunting Whitcomb on Nov. 10, 1884 at Marion. She was a graduate of Marion High School in 1904, and was retired in 1959 as librarian from the Marion Library where she had been employed 40 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Cary club and the Musical Literary club.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Jay Miller. Interment will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may if they wish, contribute to the First Presbyterian church as a memorial.
