The Marion Register Wednesday December 23, 1903
Death of Herbie and Lillie Johnson.
Wednesday evening, December 16, 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Johnson and family were called to mourn the loss of another darling lamb from their family circle, Herbert Monroe, whom it pleased the Good Shepard to remove from this earthly fold to His eternal fold in Heaven.
Just three weeks previous to little Herbie's death, his little sister Lillie was laid to rest in Oak Shade Cemetery, beside a brother and sister who had gone on before.
Herbie was aged four years and three months and Lillie was aged two years and six months. They were the sixth and seventh of eleven children, four of whom survive to mourn the loss of a darling brother and lovely little sister.
Herbie was a dear little boy, the soul of beauty and sweetness and a bright little sunbeam in the home now made so desolate.
Lillie was all that a darling little child of two and one half years could be, the light and joy of the home where she was made the pet of the household, and the little innocent face and sweet babyish smile, will be remembered long after the little lips have been sealed in death and those bright blue eyes have closed forever to the scenes of this world. We know that these two dear children have gone to that beautiful land where all is peace and joy, ere they knew what sin was, to be with Him who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of Heaven," and that
Two little angels will there await
Hand in hand at the golden gate,
Two little hearts in the realms above,
Bound together in Jesus love.
Patiently waiting for father and mother
Patiently waiting for sister and brother,
Two little lambs in Jesus fold
With rest and room and joy untold.
Two little darlings will never roam
But will wait up there to welcome us home.
Both funerals were held at the residence on 3d Avenue, conducted by Rev. T.M. Evans. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery.

Card of Thanks.
We, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Johnson and family wish to express, our most sincere thanks to the many friends who so kindly extended their aid and sympathy, during the sickness and death of our beloved son and brother, Herbert Johnson, and also our darling little daughter and sister, Lillie Johnson.
