Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette July 20, 1904

...The deceased was born in Clinton county, Ohio, September 24, 1826. In the fall of 1845 he was married to Miss Lucinda Beard and remained there until 1854 when Mr. and Mrs. Floyd removed to Marion. In January, 1889, Mrs. Floyd departed this life. Mr. Floyd thereafter made his home the major portion of the time with his son, Conductor Amos A. Floyd, one of the best known employes of the Milwaukee, who was recently transferred to Davenport. There the father visited for a couple of weeks, returning here to look after some business matters about five weeks ago, when he was taken ill. Besides the two children mentioned, Mrs. Russell and A.A. Floyd, the deceased is survived by a sister in Midland, Ohio.
