Effie E. Parsons Services Were Held Thursday
Mrs. Effie E. Parsons, 79, widow of Eugene E. Parsons, passed away at 1?35 a.m. Monday at her home 525 Eleventh st. following a long illness.
Mrs. Parsons was born Effie E. Stinger the daughter of Francis B. and Harriet Rundall Stinger on October 20, 1874 in the same house that she lived her entire life. She was married in her home to Mr. Parsons on July 10, 1895. Mr. Parsons passed away on May 15, 1946. She was educated in the Marion schools.
Mrs. Parsons was a member of Circle No. 3 of the Presbyterian Womans Organization; Marion Chapter No. 183, O.E.S.; Winter Temple No. 75, Pythian Sisters at Cedar Rapids. SHe held all of the local offices and state offices in the Pythian Sisters being a Past Grand Chief of Iowa at the time of her death. She was a charter member of the Entre Nous club.
She was secretary for twenty five years of the local Red Cross Chapter; head of the local Christmas seal campaign for more than twenty years; secretary of the Marion Cemetery association for twenty five years and for some years was treasurer of the Marion Federation of Womans clubs.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Murdoch Funeral Home by the Rev. James P. Gable assisted by Winter Temple No. 75, Pythian Sisters. Mrs. Evelyn Myers was soloist. Interment was in the family lot in Oak Shade cemetery.
