C.E.Reiter Died Wed.
Clarence E. Reiter, 753 Sixth Avenue, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, following a long illness.
He was born March 22, 1872 near Quasqueton, the son of Anthony J. and Philura Timken Reiter and moved to Marion with them when he was one year old. He was married to Nellie Coffitt on June 24, 1896 at Gowrie, Ia. and she passed away at Marion on November 2, 1899. On September 6, 1918 he was married to Lillian Baker Lutz at Marshalltown and she passed away at Marion on August 27, 1942. Mr. Reiter was in the grocery business in Marion for 47 years before his retirement. Mr. Reiter was a member of the First Methodist church of Marion.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Herman (Gladys) Georges, Savanna, Ill.; a step daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Bess) Gordon, Okoboji; three grandchildren and a sister, Miss Florence Reiter who made her home with her brother.
Memorial services will be at a time to be announced later at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Ralph E. Baker, pastor of the first Methodist church. Interment will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 1 p.m. Thursday.
