Esther I. Waln, 89, of 210 27th St. NE died Monday morning at Crestview Acres Nursing Home, Marion, after a lingering illness.
Esther Tabor was born Dec. 29, 1893, in Oxford Junction. On March 11, 1915, she was married to Ralph A. Waln in Marion.
Mrs. Waln was a graduate of Marion High School and attended Coe College. She taught in the Linn County schools and worked at Armstrong's until retiring. She also was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Marion, Milwaukee Railroad Womens Club of Marion and a 50-year member of Love Chapter 407 of O.E.S. of Springville.
Surviving besides her husband are: a daughter, Evelyn W. Dolfin of San Jose, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Court of Arcadia, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel E. McCalley of Cedar Rapids.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Chapel, Marion, by the Rev. Jay A. Miller. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the memorial fund of the First United Presbyterian Church....
