Martin A. Izer, 400 Longwood drive NE, chief car inspector for the Rock Island railroad for 40 years until ill health forced his retirement Aug. 28, 1943, died at his home at 2:20 op.m. Saturday.
He was born Sept. 30, 1882, at Marion and had lived in Linn county all his life, the last 14 years in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving him are a son, Charles F. Izer, and a granddaguther, Sharon Lynne Izer, both of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Scheihing of Burlington; and a brother, Charles F. Izer of Davenport.
He was a member of the Methodist church at Marion, Star of the West lodge, Pythians, Mizpah No. 639 A.F. and A.M., Iowa Consistory, El Kahir Shrine and the Embassy club.
Services will be held in the Turner chapel at a time to be announced later. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery at Mairon. Friends may call at the chapel Sunday.
