Nicholas A. Becker, 22, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in University Hospitals, Iowa City, from complications of a bone marrow transplant.
Nic was born Sept. 5, 1978, the son of Victor L. and Sue E. Titler Becker, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Alburnett High School in 1998 and Kirkwood Community College in 2000, receiving an associate degree in swine production. He enjoyed being a swine producer and student at Kirkwood. Nic was a 10-year 4-H member, where he served as treasurer for the 4-H County Council and received the spirit award for 4-H in 1998. He was on the livestock judging teams for 4-H, FFA and Kirkwood. Nic showed many champions in swine and dairy, winning showmanship awards in each. He was proud to have showed the champion Yorkshire female at the 2000 Iowa State Fair and won showmanship as well. Nic also was a member of the Alburnett United Methodist Church.

Nic was always energetic and eager to help youth with their projects and to help them learn the skills he worked so hard to attain. He was like a big brother to many young children. Nic will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
