Ruth C. Hoglund 74, of 467 9th ave. and a resident of Marion for the past 27 years, passed away at 6:55 p.m. Monday, eveninig in a Cedar Rapids hospital. She was born the daughter of Andrew and Catherine Cheves[can't read well] Walker on Nov. 11, 1894 at St. Joseph, Mo. On April 15, 1916 she was married to William J. Hoglulnd at Muscatine. Mrs. Hoglund was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Marion and for many years served as President of the United Presbyterian Womens Organization.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Donald Hoglund and Reed Hoglund of Marion; three grandchildren, John Hoglund of Davenport, CT, Robert Hoglund with the U.S. Navy at Winter Harbor, Maine and Mrs. Lee (Cathy) Fischer of Guttenburg; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Mark Hoglund of Davenport; a brother Earl Walker of St. Joseph, Mo. and two sisters, Mrs. A.G. (Catherine) Hill of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Hazel Croft of Magnolia, Minn. She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond F. Hoglund, a brother, Robert Walker; and two sisters, Cora Rex[sic] and Esther Burger.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at the Murdoch Chapel in Mairon conducted by Rev. Jean P. Hauter. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park.
