Services for George Thorington Tuesday
George W. Thorington, 62, 2123 Seventh avenue, died Sunday at 12:30 a.m. after an illness of several weeks.
Born Oct. 12, 1880, near Bertram, the son of Samuel and Christine Stanbaugh Thorington, he moved to Marion in February, 1903. He was married Dec. 24, 1903, to Gertrude Ross. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Martha Hakes, Viola; Mrs. Opal Durachta, Chicago; Harold Thorington, Cedar Rapids; Private Gerald Thorington, Chanute field, Ill., and George Thorington, seaman second class in the navy. Four sons and three daughters preceded him in death. Surviving also are 10 grandchildren and two brothers, Elmer Thorington of Mt. Vernon and John Thorington of Lisbon and a sister, Mrs. Martha Church of Timber, Mo.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Yocom chapel by the Rev. Vernon H. Carter, pastor of the Christian church. Burial will be in Campbell cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
