Services Friday for William E. Dole, a Former Resident
William E. Dole, a former resident of Marion, died Monday, Sept. 20, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.J. Quinn, at Arkansas City, Kans., following a long illness.
Mr. Dole was born August 7, 1852 at Thurso, Quebec, the son of John and Mary Hillman Dole. He was married there Oct. 21, 1875, to Elizabeth Hollingsworth, who survives, together with six children. One of their sons was Harry L. Dole, now living in Duluth, Minn., formerly high school principal here for a number of years. Other children, in addition to Mrs. Quinn, are Mrs. E.F. Wolf, Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Elizabeth Hodges, Kansas City, Mi.; Alger H. Dole, Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Ross Remer, Center Point.
Mr. Dole lived here from 1925 to 1935, and was a highly-esteemed Christian gentleman.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the Marion Free Methodis church, of which the deceased was a faithful member. The Rev. Carl Cunningham, assisted by the Rev. C.B. Patrick, will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in Oak Shade. The body will arrive from Kansas Thursday evening, and friends may call Friday morning at the Yocom chapel.
