DIES FROM OVER-HEAT STROKE

Frank Shook Stricken While Firing on Engine
Frank Shook died Tuesday night, at eleven o'clock, afetr[sic] suffering a heat stroke, Sunday morning. He left Marion on a freight, going to Perry, about 8 o'clock Sunday a.m., but before reaching Ferguson was unable to work as locomotive fireman, so had to[sic] was relieved. He went on to Perry and was then brought back to his home here, where his death occurred.
Mr. Shook has been in the employ of the C.M. & St. P.R., as fireman, for six years and was an efficient employee. He was a young man of exemplary habits and a most devoted son to his widowed mother, with whom he resided at 2115 Third avenue.
He was born in Adrian, Missouri, January 7, 1893, coming to Maroin from his native state. He was a member of Marion Lodge, No. 6 A.F. and A.M., Patmos Commandery No 27, Knights Templar and the B. of I.F. and E.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30, in the Masonic Temple, conducted by Marion Lodge, assisted by the Rev. A.H. Hanscom.
