Amos D. Wood, 71, of 292 Eleventh street, Marion, died Saturday at 10:50 p.m. in an Iowa City hospital after an illness of several weeks.
Born Feb. 28, 1884, in Cass county, Ia., he was married to Elma Glick at Anamosa Dec. 27, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Wood moved to Marion in 1920 from Arlington. He began work for the Quaker Oats Company, Cedar Rapids, in 1920 and was foreman in the puffed goods department until his retirement in 1949.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons: Wayne G., San Diego, Vernie M., Olin, Ivan E., Springville, and Amos J. Wood, Keystone; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Welper of Marion; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Russel Bowers of Wilton Junction and Mrs. William French of Wyoming, Ia.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. R. Franklin Galloway. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
