Charles Carlson, 70, Died Yesterday at Home of His Son

Charles August Carlson, farmer, age 70, died Wednesday at the home of his son, Dewey, southeast of Marion. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born Dec. 4, 1860, in Calmar, Sweden, spending his early childhood in that country until he came with his parents to the United States, April 15, 1883. He married Hilda Peterson Nov. 10, 1888 and they first began housekeeping in Illinois, coming to Iowa, March, 1898 and settling on a farm near Marion. Mrs. Carlson died Oct. 25, 1911.
Mr. Carlson was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church of Chicago.
Those survivin are ten children: Albert, New Hampton; Mary, Dawson, MInn.; Mrs. Frank Sablom, Dawson, Minn.; Gus, Marion; Singe, Illinois; Mrs. R.A. Reinecke, New Hampton; Dewey, Marion; Ralph Kansas City; Ruby, Cedar Rapids; John, another son, died Oct. 4, 1920.
Funeral services are to be held Friday at the Yocom chapel with the Rev. O.T. Enquist, pastor of the Saron [sic] Lutheran church of Cedar Rapids, officiating. Interment will be oin [sic] Oak Shade cemetery.
