Thursday July 27, 1922 The Marion Weekly Sentinel
Mrs. James Greer passed away Friday afternoon at half past two, following an illness of almost a year. During the earlier months of her sickness, she seemed to improve at times, and her family and friends were hopeful of her ultimate recovery.
Louise, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kocher, was born on March 16, 1889 in Marion. Following her graduation in 1906 from the local schools, she attended Cornell and Coe colleges, graduating from the latter institution. For a number of years she taught in the Marion high school. She was a gifted violinist, using her talent freely in church and upon other occasions. Her marriage to James Greer took place June 20, 1917, and to them was born a daughter, Helen Louise, now three years old. Upon this little daughter, she centered her ambitions for the future and during her long illness she was so hopeful that she would be spared to help carry out these plans. She was prominent in social and literary circles, and was a member of Chapter CS, P.E.O., the Sorosis club and Marion Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, daughter, mother and one sister, Mrs. Richard Funck, of Duluth, Minn. Her preceded her in death.
The funeral services were held Monday morning at the residence, 780 Central avenue, where the many beautiful flowers and large number of friends gathered were silent testimonies of the place Mrs. Greer held in the community. Her pastor, the Rev. H.G. Finney, of the Presbyterian church, was in charge and burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
