Funeral Held For Mrs. L.C. Smith, Former Resident

Funeral services for Mrs. L.C. Smith of Sioux City were held Sunday at the Yocom Funeral home. The Rev. W.E. Fisher, pastor of the Presbyterian church, was in charge of the service and burial was in the family lot in Oak Shade cemetery. Mrs. Dorothy Klump Robison and Mrs. Ina Woodward Bragg sang "Abide With Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The pallbearers were Marvin Oxley, James Tobin, Irvin Ford, Arthur Newman, Harley Breed and S. Thomas.
Vesta Conger Smith was born in Chillecothe, Mo., July 19, 1891. When she was a small child, she moved with her parents to Marion, where her girlhood was spent. She was graduated from the Marion high school with the class of 1909, and for two years after her graduation was employed as assistant in the office of Dr. F.S. Skinner. She was married to Leo C. Smith at Marion. For seventeen years they made their home in Minneapolis, moving to Sioux City two years ago. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church and was a former teacher in the Sunday school here.
Mrs. Smith died Sept. 1 at her home in Sioux City. She had bee in failing health for three years, but was bedfast just three weeks.
