Mrs. P.L. McCalley Died Early Monday After Long Illness

Following a long illness, death came as a sweet release to Mrs. Gladys Mae McCalley at 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, at the family residence, 1290 Tenth street.
She was born on a farm east of Marion, July 4, 1899, the daughter of Lewis and Gertrude Lieb Weis, and had spent her entire life in Marion and its immediate vicinity.
She was a graduate of the Marion high school and of a Cedar Rapids business school. On February 28, 1922, she was united in marriage at Iowa City to Park L. McCalley, who survives together with her father and one brother, L.W. Weis of Marion. She was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church, the Fidelis circle of King's Daughters, Grove City Rebekah lodge, No. 35, of Marion chapter, No. 183, O.E.S., and of the New Art club.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Yocom chapel, in charge of the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong, pastor of the Presbyterian church, with the assistance of Marion chapter, O.E.S. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
