Friday December 24, 1909 The Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette Marion News
Mrs. Eva Farrows was born April 2, 1871, at Marion, Iowa, and died December 21, 1909, at the age of 38 years. She was the seventh daughter of Nelson and Hannah P. Aldrich who were early settlers in that section of Linn county.
She was united in marriage with Ellis Farrows at Woodstock, Conn., December 25, 1892. She is survived by one son, Leon Farrows, aged 15, and four sisters, Mrs. Ida E. Felcher, Marion; Mrs. Cora A. Frazier, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. J.W. Galligan, Phillipsburg, N.J. and Mrs. J.A. Clogston, Ottumwa.
She united with the First Baptist church of Phillipsburg, N.J., and at the time of her death was a member of the First Baptist church of Cedar Rapids. She succumbed after a great deal of suffering lasting over a period of fourteen weeks with typhoid malaria.
She came to Cedar Rapids through the influence of Rev. Campbell, Presbyterian pastor of Marion, to accept the position of matron of Willston hall, Coe college, which position she occupied two ears, and where on account of her kindly disposition she made many friends amongst the students.
She was of a very kind and generous nature and her early death is much to be regretted by her many friends of this vicinity and Phillipsburg, N.J.
