Randy Lee Maltas, 44, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in his home after a sudden illness. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel East, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. The Rev. Linda Livingston will officiate. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Randy was born June 21, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Max Maltas and Dorothy Cobb Maltas. He married [private] on Aug. 22, 1992, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Randy was employed at PMX as a machine operator. He had been chief of police at McGregor, an officer for the Hiawatha Police Department and worked for the Cedar County Sheriff's Department. Randy was a horse trainer. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters....
