Funeral services for the late Fred K. Busby were held from the family home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were attendedby [sic] a large concourse of people, including the American Legion and Masons. The servicewas [sic] a beautiful one, the remains being accompanied to Oak Shade by the Legion and Masons, they taking charge of the services at the grave.
Among those who gathered to pay a last tribute to his memory were fifty from Waterloo and a considerable number from Cedar Rapids.
Fred Busby, a former resident, died at his home in Waterloo last Friday following an illness of three months. Born in this city April 11, 1882, he graduated from the Marion high school and when the free mail delivery service was established here he became one of the first carriers. Later he was transferred to Waterloo and at the time of his death was superintendent of carriers. During the world war he was in the postal service overseas.
He is survived by his widow and three children, Charles Embert, Cora May and George Jr. He is also survived by his father, B.C. Busby [sic], by two sisters, Mrs. George Hussey of Chicago, Mrs. Leslie Morrison of Marion and one brother, George Busby of Marion.
