Cedar Rapids Gazette Tuesday January 10, 1945
John J. Hogan, 718 Ninth street NW, died in a Cedar Rapids hosptial Monday after a lingering illness. Born in DeWitt Dec. 11, 1871, he moved later to Iowa county, farming at Sisley Grove for 21 years before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1930. On Aug. 25, 1897, he married Annie Sheridan, who died July 27, 1938.
Surviving are 10 children, Edmund and Francis of Wheaton, Ill.; Joseph of St. Mary, Ohio; John of Pasadena, Calif., Bernard, chief electrician's mate in the U.S. navy; William, Walter, Mrs. Peter Yulga and Mrs. Frank Humphreys of Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. William Newcomb of Williamsburg, and 20 grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Patrick's church, where funearl services will be held at a time to be announced later.
Friends may call at the Teahen chapel Wednesday afternoon and evening.
