DIES IN FLORIDA
Miss Mary Howeler Passes Away After a Brief Illness
Funeral services for Miss Mary Howeler, who died Wednesday, January 16, at Jacksonvill, Fla., were held yesterday afternoon at the Cathcart Undertaking Chapel in this city. Rev. H.G. Finney of the Presbyterian church conducted the services, and interment was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
Mary Louise Howeler was the daughter of Emilie and August Howeler, and was born in Bielefeld, Germany in 1865. She was raised in the home of her grandparents, afterwards devoting herself to their care up to the time of their death, when she came to this country to make her home with her parents.
She received a thorough education and early Christian training, and was confirmed at the age of fourteen years. She was a deep student of the Bible and found deep solace and comfort in the teachings. She became a member of the local Presbyterian church during the pastorate of Rev. Alexander Marshall.
About two years ago she went to Florida, where after a brief illness she passed away, surrounded by the friends she had made during her residence there.
She is preceded in death by her mother, a sister and a brother. Those left to mourn her departure are her father, two brothers, Henry and Charles and a sister Eda, all living at home.
