Marion Register September 30, 1907
The funeral services of Mrs. Dates were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by Rev. M.L. Hutton, pastor of the Congregational church. The music was furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. V.G. Shumack, Mrs. S.N. Parsons, James Bromwell and J.S. Booth. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery. Marion Chapter, Order of Eastern Star attended the funeral services at the grave using their ritualistic form. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Feeley. She was born August 15th 1858, in Rochester, New York and was therefore 49 years, 1 month and 18 days old the day of her death. She was married to F.H. Dates at Rochester, March 29th, 1875. The family has resided in Marion many years. The friendships they formed were many. Mr. Dates and their daughter, Mrs. Ray Knowlton have the sincerest sympathy of all.
