Minerva B. Wiley Elderly Marion Resident Dies

Mrs. Minerva B. Wiley, 96, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, at her home, 1079 Twelfth st., Marion, following a long illness.
She was born December 9, 1855 in Belmont county, Ohio, the daughter of Louis and Lydia Orrison Boyer. When she was twelve years old she moved to Chariton with her parents. She was married at Marion on March 18, 1875 to Hiram J. Wiley and they settled on his farm near Marion. Fifty years ago they moved to Marion and to the house that has been her home since that time. Mr. Wiley passed away on July 14, 1906 at Marion. She joined the Methodist church as a child and when she moved to Marion she transferred her membership to the Marion church and has been a member there for the past fifty years. She was also a member of Robert Mitchell W.R.C.
She is survived by five children: Mrs. Willa E. Crane, Carl L. Wiley and Mrs. Mary W. Yocom, all of Marion, and Ray F. Wiley of Springville and Mrs. Caroline E. Bromwell of Center Point. She also leaves eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Yocom-Murdoch Funeral Home by the Rev. James P. Gable. Burial was in the family lot in Oak Shade Cemetery. Bearers were Karl Kendall, Clarence Oxley, George Hutchinson, Howard Titus, Robert Goodyear and Fay Bailey.
