Carl L. Wiley, 91, a former resident who lived at 565 Thirteenth street, died early Saturday at Waterloo where he had resided for the past year.
He was born Dec. 9, 1877, at Marion. On Feb. 12, 1902, at Martelle, he was married to Stella Taylor. She died Nov. 29, 1962.
Mr. Wiley was a lifelong resident of Linn county. He farmed from 1902 to 1939 on a farm 8 miles north of Marion, and in 1939 moved to town. He was a member of the First United Methodist church of Marion, where he served in many official capacities including board of trustees and as custodian for many years. He was a member of Marion Masonic lodge.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Fred PFeifer of Waterloo; two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and a sister, Caroline Bromwell of Center Point.
Services: Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Murdoch chapel in Marion conducted by the Rev. Lloyd C. Kellams. Interment: Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 11 a.m. Monday
