Iowa Pioneer Dies, Age 82
May 7, 1916 - The death of Martin L. Weatherwax, age 82 years occurred at his home in Twenty-third Avenue west, at 7:30
a.m. today. Funeral services will be announced later.
Mr. Weatherwax was born in Schenectady County, New York, July 3, 1834, and in 1848 came with his parents to Kane County,Illinois.
In 1854 he came to Iowa, settling on a farm in Benton County.
His marriage to Nancy J. Clark occurred August 7, 1859, and together they had lived in and around Linn County since that time, the last
twenty-five years having spent in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Weatherwax is survived by his widow, five brothers, Archie of Charles City;
Thomas J. of Palo; Charles of Alexandria, Minn.; Louis P. of Yampa, Idaho, and Hendrick A. of Shellsburg, and one sister,Mrs. Lourinda Kline of Palo.
Mr. Weatherwax had enjoyed perfect health until a few years ago.
