YEARS AGO, DIES

Mrs. H. O. Allen has handed the Press-News the following account of the death of Mrs. C. E. Drummond, who is remembered by many in the vicinity. Her husband practiced dentistry here for a number of years. The account is from the Marion Sentinel.

Ms. Lula Pollans Drummond died Saturday, September 11, 1943, at 4 p.m. at the family residence at Marion, Following a long illness. She was born October 6, 1871, at Morriston, Illinois, the daughter of Isaac and Sarilde Smith-Pollans. She came to Preston, Iowa, at an early age; was graduated from the high school there and later attended Cornell college, where she specialized in music. She returned to Preston and was an instructor in piano.

December 27, 1894 she was married at Preston, to Dr. C.E. Drummond. Four years later they moved to Osage, and in 1913 moved to Marion.

Surviving are her husband; her daughter, Mrs. Lucile D. Kepler, of Fairfield; three sons, C. Edgerton Drummond Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia; Everett A. Drummond, Los Angeles, Calif., and Lumond L. Drummond, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and nine grandchildren. A son, Kent P. Drummond, died in Marion in 1910.

Mrs. Drummond was a member of the Marion Methodist church; of the True Blue division of the W.S.C.S., and of the Therestriari club, and was highly esteemed for her culture and charm and for her contributions to music circles through the years.

Funeral services were conducted from the Yocum chapel last Tuesday, Dr. A. Henke, pastor of the Methodist church in charge.
