WAVERLY- Joanna LaHue, 96 Waverly , and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday morning, May 16, 1996. She was born July 27, 1899 in Urbana, the daughter of William and Mahala (Harrison) Brody. She attended country school, and following her education helped her parents on the farm. June 3, 1919, she married Wilbert "Dick" LaHue in Vinton. The couple made their home in Vinton for the next several years before moving to Cedar Rapids, where they lived and raised their family.

Dick died in 1961 and she continued to live in their home until 1989, when she moved to Waverly to live with her daughter, Charlotte Peterson. She was a member of the First Church of thc Nazarene in Cedar Rapids. Beginning in 1916, the Brody family held a reunion each year in Urbana, an event that she attended many, many times, the last time being in 1994.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Gerald Peterson, Waverly; seven grandchildren, Judy Key, Janet Curtis, Lon Peterson, Mark Peterson, Gene Peterson, Donna Smith, Diane Shields; ten great-grandchildren; and by two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Forrest C. LaHue; four sisters; and five brothers. There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be Saturday, May 25, 1996 at the Cedar Memorial Cemetery , Cedar Rapids. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the First Church of The Nazarene, 3113 First Avenue Southwest 52405, Cedar Rapids. The Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge.
