Carl B. Furness, 72, 408 Cherry Hill Road NW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, December 20, 1993, at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Randy Kasch officiating and military honors by the American Legion Post 727. Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery, Grafton.

Carl B. Furness was born October 9, 1921, in Banks, ND. He married Genevieve Bork on August 20, 1946, in Nashua. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 27 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post 727 and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Carl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, Cedar Rapids,; one son Jerry Furness, Rowley; two daughters, Kay Rawson, Coggon, Cynthia Solem, Cedar Rapids; seven sisters, Jenny Aasland, Lake Mills, Mabel Peck, Grand Meadow, MN, Esther Haugen, Fertile, Evelyn Klien, Albuquerque, NM, Dorothy Schulte, Helen Balfe, both of Fairbault, MN, and Hilberg, St. Paul, MN; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
