Mrs. William Tharp dies on Monday - Mrs. William Tharp, 53, died at her home in North Manchester on Monday, Oct. 18, 1943, after a long illness due to an incurable malady. Following services at the Shelly Funeral Home yesterday afternoon, conducted by Oliver Smith of Waterloo, burial was made in the Central City cemetery.
Amy Lavina Minkler, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Minkler was born in Clayton County, Iowa, August 20, 1890. The family moved later to this locality, and her marriage to Wm. D. Tharp took place July 4, 1910. Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Herbert Avery of Williamsburg, KY., and Miss Audrey Tharp of Aurora, ILL. Her parents, a half sister, Leona Davis and a half brother, Noah Davis, preceded her in death. Mrs. Tharp had been affiliated with the local Gospel Hall organization, and was in regular attendence upon its meetings so long as her health permitted. She died truimphant in the faith by which she ruled her life, and will long be mourned not only by her family, but by a wide circle of friends.
