Mrs Mary E Palmer of Springville died at the home of her brother in Keosauqua, Iowa, Wednesday night. the funeral will be held this afternoon. Services will be held at the home of her son Will, at 1:30 and at the Springville Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock. She was an aunt of W. P. Secrist of the city and was 71 years of age.
Note: There is a Michael Burkett in Keosauqua, VanBuren Co IA in the 1920 Census, age 73, born in Pennsylvania, married to Anna age 70. (Born 1847)

Mary E Burkett was born Sept 30, 1843 in Franklin County Pennsylvania., and died at Keosauqua, Iowa, Nov. 18, 1914. She was therefore aged 71 years, 1 month and 18 days.
In 1865 after her father's death, she removed with her mother and brother , M I Burkett to Middletown, Logan county, Il. The mother passing away in April 1870, she came to Linn county, Iowa to make her home with her sister, Mrs. D W Secrist.
Dec 29, 1870 she was united in marriage to William A Palmer, who preceded her in death March 25, 1900. To this union were born three sons, Bert C, of Pasadena Calif. William S., and Frank H. of Springville. the latter two were with her when she passed away. Besides the sons mentions, she leaves to mourn her loss ten grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Catherine Withers of Graffenburg, Pennsylvania., who is now 88 years of age, and two brothers, F C Burkett of Lewistown, Pennsylvania., and M. I. Burkett of Keosauwqua, Iowa, also a host of friends.
In her girlhood Mother Palmer joined the United Brethern church, afterward transferring to the Methodist Episcopal church in which she remained a faithful member until her death. During all her sickness she was a most faithful sufferer.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Springville Methodist church, the large number present testifying to the high esteem in which the deceased was held by the community. the sermon was preached by the pastor, Rev Geo W Self, and a quartet composed of Mrs. O J Emmons, Mrs. G W Self, Rev R A Brough and O E Crane, with Mrs J. D. Graham at the organ, rendered several appropriate selections.

Will and Frank Palmer were called to Keosauqua, Iowa, last week by the serious illness and subsequent death of their mother, Mrs Mary Palmer.
Mr. and Mrs. M I Burkett of Keosauqua, Iowa, who accompanied the remains of his sister, Mrs Mary Palmer, to this place Friday, left Tuesday for their home after spending several days with their nephew Wm. Palmer and family.
