Obituary
Martin V. Burke was born Oct. 20, 1889 in Owen township, Cerro Gordo, county, and died in St. Luke's hospital in Chicago, on August 17, 1929 after an illness of four and a half months, aged
39 years, 9 months and 27 days.He grew to manhood in this vicinity, graduating from Sacred Heart academy in June, 1908 and later attended Columbia college at Dubuque.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Danner-Burke, and three children, Martin 8, Barbara 5 and David 7 weeks. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Burke; two sisters, Mrs. Emmet J. Campbell and Luella, all of Rockwell; and three brothers, E. M. Burke of Kansas City; A.J. Burke of Harrisburg, Penn.; and Joseph of this place.
Funeral services were conducted at Immaculate Conception church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Father Holub, August 20th. and interment made at Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Martin V. Burke residing at 831 South Eighteen street, died at St. Luke's hospital, Chicago, at 10:30 p.m. Saturday after an illness of four months. He was born Oct. 20, 1889 in Rockwell and had resided in Cedar Rapids for the last twelve years. Mr. Burke was a traveling salesman for a varnish company.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Danner-Burke, and three children, Martin 8, Barbara, 5 and Davis, 7 weeks. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burke; two sisters, Mrs. Emmet Campbell and Luella M. Burke, all of Rockwell and three brothers, E. W. Burke, Kansas City, Mo., A. J. Burke, Harrisburg, Pa., and Joseph Burke, Rockwell.
Funeral services will be held in the Immaculate Conception church at 9 a.m. Tuesday conducted by the Rev. Father William McGovern.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery.
