The Fort Madison Democrat has the following sketch of Asa Brockway;
"Deceased was born near Denmark in this county, and had made this section his home for life. As a farmer, stock buyer, and liveryman he had gained many friends to regret his death, which came at the end of a lingering illness. Mr. Brockway came to this city about four years ago, purchasing the Bullard liveries, which were in turn sold to the present owner, J.F. Hansman. He married five years ago to Miss Albertine Strenstrom of Burlington, who survives him with two children, Donald and Fay. His mother, Mrs. Louisa Brockway, is also living and resides at the home here."
