Leslie Lamar Fowler, Jr., of Keokuk, died on August 28, 2012, in his home.
He was born May 25, 1924, in Hannibal, Missouri (Leslie Lamar Fowler, Sr. and Susie Blair Fowler), graduated from Hannibal High School in 1942, and married Jane Fisher in Hannibal, Missouri November 24, 1945.
He was awarded a bronze star during combat service in the 104th Infantry Division in World War II. He received his BS in Chem Engineering from the University of Missouri, and he retired in 1980 as Vice President, Manufacturing from the Hubinger Company. Les was active in many organizations and played golf in the same foursome for 59 years.
Les is survived by daughter Roberta S. Tong (Patrick) of Danville, California; son, Frank L. Fowler (Cathie) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two granddaughters, Korby Jane Saunders (Jeff) of San Ramon, California, and Catherine Leslie Montag (Brian) of Dublin, California; and three great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his wife's parents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., September 3, 2012, at DeJong-Greaves, 917 Blondeau in Keokuk. Celebration of life is 10:30 a.m., September 4, 2012, at the United Presbyterian Church. Inurnment is 11 a.m., September 5, 2011, in Keokuk National Cemetery.
The family appreciates the care that Les received from the UIHC Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
