Death Enters a Keokuk Home Last Evening and Calls Beyond the Wife and Mother.

Well Known Lady Who Had a Great Many Friends Here and was Mother of Six Children

Last evening at 11:45 o'clock at her home, No. 1323 Fulton street occurred the death of Mrs. Theresa Hegeman at the age of sixty years.

The deceased was one of the best known and beloved residents of this city and had lived in Keokuk since 1860. She was a woman who was the possesser of many excellent qualities and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church and was a good christian woman.

The deceased was born in Germany on Sept 27, 1848, and as Miss Theresa Steiger, came to America in 1860, coming direct to Keokuk which has been her home ever since.

Her marraige to Theodore Hegeman took place in Keokuk on April 26, 1868.

SIX CHILDREN

Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons and three daughters, as follows: P.W. Hegeman of Chicago; Prof. W.H. Hegeman of Northwood, Iowa; Theodore Hegeman of Galesburg; Misses Jennie, Serena and Norma Hegeman of Keokuk.

J. W. Stieger is a brother of the deceased, and there is also one grandchild who survives.

Mrs. Hegeman was a charter member of the Knights and Ladies of Honor, having held membership in that organization since it's formation in this city.

The funeral arrangements have not as yet been made, but will be announced later after the sons have arrived and the date is set.
