Mrs. Genevieve Goetz, wife of Joseph Goetz of 2027 Des Moines street, passed away at St. Joseph's hospital at 10:20 o'clock Sunday morning from appendicitis after a short illness.

Mrs. Goetz had been complaining of pains in her side for about a week and on last Wednesday these became acute. She was immediately taken to St. Joseph's hospital and was operated upon that evening. At first it was believed that she would rally, but toward the last she sank rapidly until the end came on Sunday morning.

Mrs. Goetz is survived by her husband and seven sons and three daughters. All but one of the children live in Keokuk. They are as follows: Frank X. Goetz, Joseph Goetz, Jr., Sebastian Goetz, Jacob Goetz, Carl Goetz, Edward Goetz, George Goetz, Mrs. Edward Rooney and Mrs. W. E. Lennon of this city and Mrs. Anna Brown of New Boston, Ia.

The decedent was born in Bavaria, Germany, on Oct. 29, 1861, and was fifty-four years old at the time of her death. Her maiden name was Genevieve Heantel and she was married to Joseph Goetz while in the old country, on April 1, 1883.

Mr. and Mrs. Goetz came to America and direct to Keokuk in the year 1885 and had been residents of this city ever since. The decedent was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and belonged to the Rosary society. The funeral will be held from the church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.
