James Marshall, Truckdriver, Found Along "Q" Tracks

James C. Marshall, 25, 1905 Avenue O, an employee of the Fort Madison Coal & Coke company, was killed by a train on the C.B. & Q. at about midnight Thursday night.

The body was seen by an engineer on a north bound train at 5:08 o'clock this morning and who reported the finding to the dopot agent. The body was found just east of Eighteenth street along the C.B. & Q. tracks.

Marshall is believed to have been hit by a southbound C.B. & Q. train about midnight. He is thought to have been walking along the tracks toward his home when killed. The body was badly mutilated and had been dragged about 300 feet.

Engineer Sees Body

The body was found soon after seen by the engineer on the northbound train by R.E. Sickols, a night watchman at the paper plant. Marshall was last seen alive by Barney Shoemaker at 10:30 o'clock, according to a report made to Walt H. Clements, county coroner.

James Marshall was born December 18, 1908, at Galland, Iowa. He came to Fort Madison as a boy and has been employed as a driver for the Fort Madison Coal & Coke Co. about 11 years.

Surviving are his father, William Marshall, Fort Madison; and three sisters; Mrs. J. Putman, Ottumwa, Iowa, Mrs. Alma McConnell, Albert Lea, Minn; Mrs Milo Deeds, Fort Madison, and an aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs. A. Oppenheimer, Fort Madison.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at Galland, Io
