DAVIS, BANKS, SCHLATTERY, MAYHEW, KIEL

Telegram received Sunday evening that Willikm F. Davis died at the home of his son Charles at Pine Bluff, Ark. He left Ft. Madison in 1901 for Arkansas. He would have been 87 next
March. Born in Tennessee Match 1, 1815, the son of Charles and Lottie (Banks) Davis, natives of North Carolina and Virginia respectively. When he was 2 mos. old his parents moved to Stokes Co., North Carolina, and there his father died. When
he was 6 or 7 he came with his mother, and 2 sisters to Madison Co., Ky. for a few years, then Park Co., Ind. Came to Iowa July 7, 1837 to Augusta, Des Moines Co., Ia. until 1872, then to Ft. Madison. On May 18, 1839 he married Miss Carolina Hays. She was a native of Nashville, Tenn. Had 12 children-5 still living -Charles - Pine Bluff, Ark.; William - St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Charles Schlattery - Keoktk, Ia.; Mrs. Anna (Otto)Mayhew, Pine Bluff,Ark.; Mrs. Emma (W.F.) Kiel - Ft. Madison,Ia.
His wife died in 1873 and was buried in the family burying ground at Augusta, Ia. where is buried too.
