____The death angel came quietly to Charles E. Linquist at his home, No. 217 South First street last night, while he was asleep, he being found dead in his bed at about 11 o'clock by his wife.
For some time he had been feeling not very well but was not considered to be at in a critical condition or near death and his passing away came as a great shock to the members of his family and many friends, for he was a respected citizen of Keokuk and had many acquaintances here.
His wife occupied the next room and during the night, went in to see him. She found him cold and lifeless and went to the house next door and called the neighbors, stating that she thought her husband was dead. They came and a physician was sent for who pronounced the aged citizen to be dead.
Born in Sweden.
Mr. Linquist was born in Sweden in 1834 and was therefore seventy-four years of age at the time of his death. He emigrated to America in 1883, coming direct to Keokuk which had been his home ever since.By occupation, he was a stonemason and an expert man in his profession. Last week he was at work at this trade and in apparently good health for a man of his advanced age.
He was a member of the Lutheran church in Sweden and was a God-fearing and upright citizen, respected by all who knew him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Axel and Victor Linquist, both of Burlington, who arrived this afternoon, called by the sudden death of their father. L. F. Linquist of this city is a brother and there is also a sister, Anna Hilding, in Sweden.
A coroner's inquest was held this morning over the death, the jury consisting of John Eastline, E. W. Monogue and C. C. Cox. The verdict was that death was due to heart failure and old age.
The funeral is to take place tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home.
