Robert J. Hamilton, 81, of Rt. 1, Argyle died at 3:20 a. m. Saturday at the Keokuk Area Hospital. He had been a patient there for a week and had been in failing health for two years.

He was born Sept. 26, 1894 in Lee County, the son of Robert and Josie (Collins) Hamilton. He married Susie Comstock Sept. 16, 1916, who preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 1933. He then married Madelene McGhghy on June 5, 1937.

Mr. Hamilton was a retired farmer.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lola) Juhl of West Point and Mrs. Willard (Maxine) Herrmuth of Fort Madison; two sons, Robert J. Jr. of Fort Madison and Clarence Eugene of Adams, Minn.; a step-son, Joseph Edward McGhghy of Argyle; a brother, Lee of Adams, Minn.; a sister, Addie Hamilton of Austin, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife Madelene, in March 1962; three brothers, a step-son and a step-daughter.

The funeral will be held at 2 p. m. Monday at th Schmidt Memorial Home with Rev. Bernard Reece officiating. Interment will be in Montrose Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p. m. Sunday.
