John Soppe

John (Jack) Soppe, 55, of West Point died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25 in Sacred Heart hospital, Ft. Madison. He had been in ailing health for some time.

He was born April 17, 1918, at St. Paul, Ia., the son of the late Bernard and Ida Fraise Soppe. He never married. He was a lifelong resident of the St. Paul and West Point areas.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Point. He is survived by two brothers, Wilfred and Melvin, both of Ft. Madison.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point. The Rev. Francis Lenoch will officiate. Burial in Calvary cemetery at West Point. The body is at the Link Funeral Home in West Point where the rosary will be read Thursday at 8 p.m. by the parish.
