MESSAGE TELLS OF DEATH OF THOMAS ROACH

Mrs. Patrick Stafford Receives Message From Denver Announcing Passing of Former Resident of Keokuk.

Word of the death of Thomas Roach, former Keokuk resident, which occurred yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock in Denver, Colo., was received by Mrs. Patrick Stafford. Mr. Roach had been in ill health for some time, and his condition was made more serious as the result of a fall in November when he fractured his hip.

The body will be brought back to Keokuk, arriving tomorrow evening at 8:35 o’clock. It will be taken to the home of Mrs. Stafford, 700 South Seventh street, and funeral services are to be held on Saturday.

Thomas Roach was born in Camross, County Wexford, Ireland. He came to America as a young man, and located in Massachusetts. He came to Keokuk from there and made his home here for a number of years. In 1903 he went to Denver where he has lived until his death.

He was married in Massachusetts to Mary Carthy, whose death occurred five years ago. There were seven children born to this union, three of whom survive their father. They are Margaret, Mary and John, all of Denver, Colo.

Mr. Roach was well known by older residents of the city, who remember him and his family when they made their home here. He was a kindly man and one who was ever thoughtful of his family and friends. A wide circle of old friends and acquaintances will mourn his passing. He was a devout and consistent member of the Catholic church, both here and in Denver.

Jan 23, 1930.
