Wm Hagerty dies today at hosptial
He had been ill two weeks, was born in Canada and came to Keokuk in 1879
William Hagerty died today at 2:00am at the Graham hospital after an illness of about two weeks duration. He was taken to the hospital last Saturday night and his death today was caused by heart trouble. He was seventy one years old.
Mr. Hagerty was born at Montreal, Canada, on January 10, 1853, and was married in St. Pierre, Michigan in 1876 to Mary Jane Patterson, who preceded her husband in death. Mr. and Mrs. Hagerty came to Keokuk in 1879 and Mr. Hagerty followed the trade of a cement finisher. For many years he was connected with William West, one of the old contractors of this city. In 1886 Mr. Hagerty was anturalized and became a citizen of the United States. He has made his home in this city with his daughter Mrs. Oscar Swanson.
Surviving Mr. Hagerty are three daughters and three sons. Mrs Oscar Swanson, Miss Isabelle Hagerty, Mrs. Maurice W Hanson, and Lawrence Hagerty all of Keokuk; James Hagerty of St. Louis MO and George Hagerty of Alton Ill. Fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. On daughter Mrs. Anna Lambert, preceded her father in death.
Funeral services will be held from the residence of Mr and Mrs Oscar Swanson 1914 Main street, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.
