Mrs Patterson Summoned after long illness.
Death Occurred this morning at her home 1119 Franklin street at 4 o'clock
Mrs. Emma Patterson, wife of the late J.W. Patterson died at her home 1119 Frankline Street this morning at 4a.m. Emma Marie? Richers was born at Ft. Madison, Iowa April 8th? 1833. She was the daughter of Henry and Christine Richers, pioneer residents of Fort Madison, Iowa. On April 8, 1875 Emma Richers was married to James W. Patterson of this city at Fort Madison, Iowa. Mr Patterson preceded his wife in death in 1910.
Mrs. Patterson came to Keokuk when a young woman and has made Keokuk her home ever since with the exception of two years spent in Duluth, Minn with her son John D Patterson.
Member of the U P church. Mrs. Patterson joined the United Presbyterian Church of this city when a young woman and has been a consistent member ever since. She was a devout christian , a devoted mother, always making the interests of her children paramount in her life, a kind neighbor and a true friend. Her life was one devoted to the helpfulness of others, always being ready to render service in time of need.
She is survived by the following children: William R Patterson of Duluth, Rob Roy Patterson of Keokuk, John D Patterson of Duluth, Harry M Patterson of Keokuk and Mrs. Lenore Wickland of Keokuk. The garnd children are John H, James W and Isabelle Patterson of Duluth, Robert W, Betty A and Harry Donald Patterson of Keokuk and Mazine and Mary Helen Wickland of Keokuk.
One son Frederick Henry Patterson died in infancy. The following brother s and sisters also surviviing Mrs. Patterson, Henry, August and Christine Richers of Ft. Madison and Mrs. Lena Oleson of Fort Madison.
