Raymond Lozano

Raymond Lozano, 75 of Oviedo, Florida and a former Fort Madison resident, passed away at the Emery L. Bennett Veterans' Nursing Home in Daytona Beach, Florida at 5 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008.
Born in Fort Madison on Feb. 13, 1933, he was the youngest son of Alfredo and Eulalia Castillo Lozano. He was of the Catholic faith, and attended both Catholic and public schools in Fort Madison.
He first married Patricia O'Shea, and they divorced.
On December 23, 1976 he married Margaret Boecher in Fort Madison. She survives.
Also surviving is their daughter, Tessa Martinez and her husband Marty, their children Sierra, Allyna, Austin and Emilea, all of whom live in the family home. Other surviving children are Connie (Chuck) Nelson of Kahoka Mo., Cindy (Rick) Wehrle of Kentucky, Cheryl (Johnny) Rutledge of Knoxville, Tenn, a step-son, Allen Boecher of Montrose, a step-daughter, Ronda (Craig)Clayburn of Keokuk. Besides the Martinez children, 10 other grandchildren and step-grandchildren survive, along with a number of great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Rito (Paula) Lozano, Angelo Lozano, Manual Lozano of Fort Madison, sisters Angelina Galvan of Fort Madison and Shirley (Arthur) Velasquez of Palos Hills, Ill, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and in-laws, Allen and Thelma Daley, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leopold Lozano and Carlos Lozano, one sister Virginia Ponce, and his best friend, Lupe Mendez.
Mr. Lozano served in the 9th Field Maintenance Squadron, Strategic Air Command, United States Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War, and retired from J.I. Case Company, Burlington after 30 years of service. He was a member of Local 807 United Auto Workers Union at Case Company and served as a Union Steward for many years. He was also a 22 year member of the American Legion.
A private graveside service was held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. Tuesday Nov. 4, with Deacon Bruno Wiencek of St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Bushnell officiating. A flag ceremony and presentation to the family was provided by members of the United States Air Force. Purcell Funeral Home Inc., of Bushnell Florida was in charge of arrangements. Should one desire to make a contribution in the name of the deceased, it would be appreciated if donations were made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
