March 9,1899 Death of Lewis F. Moore
He succumbs to the effect of a paralytic seizureThe death of Lewis F. Moore occurred at 5 O'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, 729 Timea street. Last Tuesday he was stricken with paralysis while at his office. He was removed to his home and that evening lost consciousness, which he did not regain. He gradually sank until the end came. He was born December 3, 1837, at Perryville, Mo., where his youth and early manhood was spent. In 1865 he removed to Kahoka, Mo., where he engaged in business. He was for eleven years assessor of Clark County. Ten years ago his family removed to Keokuk but he still continued his business in Kahoka. Three years ago, he opened an insurance agency in Keokuk and continued the business up to the time of his final illness. He was married in Perryville on October 4, 1859. There are left to mourn his loss, his wife, five sons, Charles J. Moore, Ed W. Moore, Arthur E. Moore, Laurence Moore and Joseph Moore: two daughters, Sister Hortense of Detroit, Michigan and Miss Emma Moore of Keokuk; and two grandchildren. They have the sympathy of many friends in their sad loss. He is also survived by one brother, Vincent Moore of Perryville,Mo., who was expected to arrive this morning and three sisters, two of whom are members of religious orders in New Mexico, one at Connejos and the other at Santa Fe. The third sister resides at Fulton, Mo. He was a man who commanded the respect of all who knew him, was honest in his dealings and was honored by his fellow men. He was a plain unassuming, outspoken man, who lived a life of strictest integrity. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Churck
