Fort Madison man killed
Special to the Hawk-Eye Gazette
Fort Madison -- Pfc.. Charles F. Laster, 26, husband of Mrs. Cleo Laster, 8201 1/2 Ave. G, was killed in action in the North African area. August 7, according to a telegram from the adjutant general.
He formerly was a boilermaker for the Santa Fe railroad here.
Mrs. Laster's most recent letter from her husband was written July 31, from Sicily. He had arrived in North Africa in March after enlisting in the Army during November 1942.
He is survived by his wife; and his father, in Tennessee, and a sister, Mrs. Aref Naifeh, 1632 Avenue I.
