Judith Holmes
Judith Louise Holmes, 61, of 2002 295th Ave., Fort Madison, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at her home, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 22, 1940, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Louis Raymond and Dorothy Louise Boatman Juel. She married Cheryl "Sonny" Holmes on June 26, 1959, in Denmark.
Mrs. Holmes was a Fort Madison school bus driver for 13 years and worked at Silgan Container Corp. for 17 years. She then owned and operated Kountry Klassics Bed & Breakfast and also Flowers & More.
She was a member of Harmony Bible Church, Community Bible Study, Iowa Bed & Breakfast Association, King's Daughters Circle and the RBIC Investment Club.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Dean C. Holmes of Stronghurst, Ill.; one daughter, Dana LeAnn Kelly of Denmark; two sisters, Shirley Ann Baker and Sharon Kay Kamp, both of Fort Madison; two brothers, Charles Louis Juel of Houston, and Louis Raymond Juel Jr. of Argyle; three grandchildren; seven nieces; seven nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. today at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison and after 5:30 p.m. at Harmony Bible Church, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Holmes will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Mark Connelly, Paul Smith and Leonard Schantz officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Fort Madison.
Memorials have been established for the Harmony Bible Church Building Fund and Ovarian Cancer research. Contributions may be left at the funeral home or at the church.
