Abstract of 513 Ave C, Ft Madison

RUSSELL, SAWYER, GAYLORD, MILLER, HOBBS, BENSON, HART, LONG

Betty Coffman, daughter of Ralph Long, present owner, takes this from the abstract of 513 Ave C Ft Madison, IA.

I have these extra comment to make:

a. The 1850 Census of NY has Samuel Sawyer, age 32, wife, Ann, age 26, son, Richard, age 8, daughter, Elizabeth, age 5, son, William, age 3, and Samuel, jr., age 2. living in their household. In the 1860 Census of NY, Sarah, age 16, is listed with her family and also listed living with Joseph and Jennette Sawyer in Iowa. She is not living with either in 1850. Joseph, age 40, & Jennette, age 31. do live in Iowa and they have Auzy(sp?) Sawyer, age 60, and a Rachel Sawyer, age 58 living with them but these two Census years do not contain the relationships.
b. The 1910 Census has Sarah E & Fred L Gaylord living in the home place with uncle Samuel Sawyer, age 61.
c. The 1920 Census has the younger Andrew S. Gaylord’s daughter, Hollie lived with her husband, E(?) Miller ages 21, daughter Mary age 1 ˝ , and great uncle Samuel Sawyer (jr.), age 78 (must be an age mistake in either the 1910 or 1920- probably 1920 as he was stated being 21 in the 1870). They were renters obviously from Sarah E Gaylord.
