Maquoketa Sentinel, November 20, 1856.

ACCIDENT-

John Rickey, a son of Dr. Rickey, of Keokuk, was accidentally shot while gunning near the city on the 4th. The contents of his gun lodged in his abdomen and set his clothes on fire, whereupon he ran into the river to extinguish the flame. He was found soon after in the water and brought home to die a few hours later.
